Takeaway and delivery outlets use the most packaging, so section 05 ranks them first.

03 · Packaging seen in photos

Packaging formats in guest and owner photos.

Our image models read the Google photos of each outlet and tag 13 formats, including pizza boxes, kraft bags, cups with lids, takeaway bowls, burger boxes, aluminium trays, plastic containers, straws, delivery bags, ice cream cups, coffee cups to go, sauce pots and sandwich wraps.

Photos show the packaging that reaches the guest, in the dining room and in delivery. Back-of-house packaging does not appear in public sources. Pack sizes and the photos in delivery-platform listings come in the next pilot step.

How the estimates are built

  • Orders per month = Google reviews in the last 12 months ÷ 12 × , assuming about 1 in guests leaves a review.
  • Average ticket = midpoint of the Google price range; otherwise median menu price × 1.8; otherwise a typical ticket for the cuisine.
  • Takeaway and delivery share starts at 10% for dine-in outlets and rises with takeaway, delivery, each delivery platform and the cuisine. Burgers, sushi, kebab, coffee and ice cream sell more to go. Capped at 85%.
  • Packaging spend = takeaway and delivery revenue × 2-6% depending on the cuisine.
  • Popularity index uses reviews in the last 12 months (60%), total reviews (25%) and Google rating (15%), as percentiles within the zone.
  • Packaging fit uses takeaway and delivery share (45%), cuisine packaging intensity (35%) and packaging seen in photos or reviews (20%).
  • Priority = popularity 40% + packaging fit 35% + estimated packaging spend 25%.
  • Amcor product families come from public information on Amcor and Berry Global. Please check them against your catalogue.

05 · Digital footprint · delivery

outlets sell through a delivery platform.

Uber Eats and Deliveroo carry almost all delivery in the zone. Some outlets list delivery on Google with no platform listing found, which points to own delivery or a listing we have not matched yet.
